The curtains lift. Two drama therapists step on stage, each carrying a story. Laurianne Brabant and Natasha Williot met at a creative retreat in 2023. In front of them sat an imaginary box filled with masks, untold tales, and voices waiting to be heard—yet no stage to welcome them.

A quick chat became a revelation.

Both felt the same frustrations:

Rooms too small—or too quiet—for real creative play

Constantly defending drama therapy instead of practising it

Few partners and little support for creative projects

Laurianne’s work as an intervention worker drained time from her acting and playback theatre projects. Natasha craved a community that could share resources and make private practice more accessible.

Together, they imagined something better: Inner Movement—a place where stories unfold freely, masks reveal rather than hide, and creativity meets wellness every day.

Natasha Williot (she/ her)

Dramatherapist, Canadian counselor, naturopath

Natasha keeps one foot in the creative world and one in human support. As a drama therapist, Canadian counsellor, and naturopath, she centers her practice on healing, deep listening, and freedom of expression.

For years, Natasha has created safe spaces where Indigenous, Queer, and Neurodivergent clients can express themselves fully. At Inner Movement, she continues this work, transforming theatre and drama therapy into engines of inclusion, connection, and meaningful change—both for individuals and the broader community.

Laurianne Brabant (she / her / they)

Drama therapist (MA, RDT)

Laurianne has always viewed theatre as a powerful play space—an arena where one can question, share, and gather. From her earliest acting days, she searched for a tool that could break taboos, spark conversations about mental health, and foster dialogue between communities.

After earning her Master’s in Drama Therapy at Concordia, she worked as an intervention counsellor. Though rewarding, that role left little room for the full creative energy of drama therapy. Time and resources drained away from her two social-theatre nonprofits, L’Espace Potentiel and Les Porteuses d’Échos.

Creating Inner Movement enables Laurianne to realize her dream: a vibrant hub where social theatre artists and drama therapists meet, collaborate, and develop projects that spark social change.

Why Inner Movement?

Therapists who use creativity often work alone, spending energy justifying their field instead of developing it.

Purpose-built rooms are rare, partnerships scarce, and new projects hard to sustain.

Inner Movement changes that with:

Soundproof rooms designed for playful sessions

A network of peers and partner organizations

Resources that help ideas grow from page to stage

‘‘

“Through drama, we can make sense of our experiences, embody change, and discover new ways of being.”
